24 Hour Animation Challenge + Music Composing Workshops at LYFF16

Calling all art and music students! We are giving you the opportunity to be part of a global filmmaking collaboration with ASIFA, which spans 3 continents and includes films showing at festivals worldwide. Participants aged 11-15 are invited to join our two workshops with industry professionals.

4 day workshop, with David Bunting
Animation Workshops Fri 25 – Mon 28 Mar, 10am – 4pm

As part of the UK team, you will work with Bob the Builder ™ story artist, David Bunting, learning drawn animation and filmmaking skills. The course also includes entry into select talks and screenings. If you love drawing and animation, this is for you! Animation experience is not required. Participants can book for single days or the whole course.

2 day workshop, with Dave Dunn-Birch
Sat 26 & Mon 28 Mar,  10am – 4pm each day
Participants need to be able to attend both days

Do you have a passion for music performance or technology? We’re looking for talented 11-15 year olds interested in composition to be part of a two-day workshop to create a soundtrack for an animated film for international festival exposure.

Calling 8 accomplished musicians playing any instrument and 2 young people with an interest in music technology to engineer and then mix the film score. You must have a passion for music performance or experience using pro audio applications and hardware. You’ll work with musician and composer Dave Dunn-Birch, learning composition and performing techniques.

How to apply

To apply, email with your name and age. Musicians are asked to send a link to a piece of music you have performed and any proof of music grades or performance experience.

Sound mixers are to send a link to a piece of music composition you have written on either Logic, Cubase or Sibelius. Alternatively you may send your application to ASIFA, Leeds Young Film, Leeds Town Hall, The Headrow, Leeds, LS1 3AD. Applications must be received by Monday 21st March. Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 23rd March.
